The Big Wild Goose Pagoda （大雁塔）

In 652,the 3nd year of Emper Gaozong’s reign in the Tang Dynasty Xuan Zang, the famous monk made a report to the emperor,asking him to have the goose pagoda built.The project was started in early March and brought to a finish in Octcber,Having only five stories the initial pagoda had an earthen body with bricks applied on the out sides. From 701-704 during the emperss Wu Zetian`s reign she had the pagoda rebuilt into a tower-like seven storied brick pogoda, which has been kept as it is until now. Standing 64 meters high the pogoda is in a square conical shape with its bottom measuring 25 meters on all four sides and the length of platform 45 meters for each side.
